The project exists between theories of speculative quantum physics and spiritual practices that propose that circumstances and conditions preexist a "thing." It is heavily inspired by Karen Barads concept of intra-action which suggests that entities do not exist independently before they interact. Rather than beginning with separate objects reality happens through relationships. In a world where conditions precede things, the relationships between entities become fundamental. From this perspective care is more than an act between individuals. It relies on an attentiveness toward the conditions that sustain coexistence. Climate, ecology and human experience can’t be understood as separate parts but as expressions of shared systems that depend on each other. Care therefore becomes a practice of maintaining the conditions that allow life, change and relation.
The installation consists of arrows arranged as a flow field. At times they align and collectively creating the conditions necessary for something to emerge. Each arrow carries a word referring to a phenomenon or force or process that contributes to existence. Together they form a vocabulary of becoming rather than a taxonomy of things. Some words denote agents such as electrons, photons or neurons. Others describe actions like scattering, binding or splitting, while others refer to conditions, fields and thresholds that make interaction possible. Rather than representing fixed entities, the work maps the dynamic relationships and conditions through which entities continually come into being.
